Since you're taking requests, I thought I would ask for CHL8266 support please? I keep having shut-down issues under high load on a 5850 and was hoping that the EVC would help me figure out what is going on.

I haven't yet tested this on a real device so it may not be correct.

I'd also like to request adding support for the IR35217 if possible. 🙂

New software release towards the end of this week. It will enable writing to the devices and touch up on some options. I've also split the single XML file detailing device support into individual files which makes it easier to maintain and add your own devices. I'm looking at adding the mentioned controllers but the register map is not always available and may require testing by end-users and tracking down someone with access willing to share the information.

I like how that sounds, making it easy to add controllers would be nice and with here and hwbot i hope users could share work they're done in the past!
As a side note, does anyone have a list of the controllers EVC 1.0 + 2.0 (sound like a neon genesis movie title lol) supports? having a handy list would be convenient to be able to tell if a gpu is supported or not before moving onto hard mods. (instead of having to see if it works or find out what controllers the supported gpu's use and see if anything matches)

Hi all, i bought a couple of evcs, planning to mess with the up9512p on a 2080ti. It's my first time messing with controllers, can someone explain me how shoud i properly use those evcs and what pins i should touch on the up9512p?

For digital control over I²C you'd want to connect SCL, SDA and GND of one of the I²C headers on the EVC device directly to the SCL (pin 35), SDA (pin 34) and GND respectively on the uP9512 controller.

  • I2C1 connected to ROG Crosshair VII Hero
  • I2C2 connected to ROG Strix RTX2080Ti
  • SPI1 connected to ROG Crosshair VII Hero
  • DAC1 connected to on-board SPI VCC LDO

The uP9512 on 2080Ti gets locked by the GPU on boot and can't be modified afterwards. One solution is to short the SDA or SCL pin to ground during POST so the GPU can't write it. I have a software solution in mind which could also work, will keep you updated on the progress.

Johnksss i guess iam missing something but i do wonder why you dont use a rpi on classified/kingpin cards? should be able to control and monitor voltages over the evbot port.

That's what I tried first and either it's because my pi's are newer, (Pi 3 & Pi 4) or something changed. I was waiting on Tin to write something up for it.
